چکیده

This work presents a new approach to the problem of calibrating a zooming camera using staged global optimization. The input is a sequence of images of a known calibration target obtained at diier-ent mechanical zoom settings. We avoid heavy dependence on individual, strongly localized features. Feature localization is obtained iteratively, formulated as part of the error criterion used in various passes of the optimization process. The staged optimization process considers all images simultaneously, representing the parameters of the nal calibrated camera as a function of zoom. Our experiments on synthetic images and real stereo image sequences (from a zooming stereo rig) achieve epipolar correspondences at all zoom settings to an accuracy of 1 pixel.

Active-Camera Calibration Using Weakly-Localized Image Features

This work presents a new approach to the problem of calibrating a zooming camera. Calibration information is necessary for active cameras to perform tasks that require known camera parameters such as stereo reconstruction. Our method for calibrating a zoom camera solves for the parameters of a camera model using a staged global optimization technique. The input is a sequence of images of a know...

Camera Calibration: Active versus Passive Targets

Traditionally, most camera calibrations rely on a planar target with well-known marks. However, the localization error of the marks in the image is a source of inaccuracy. We propose the use of high-resolution digital displays as active calibration targets to obtain more accurate calibration results for all types of cameras. The display shows a series of coded patterns to generate correspondenc...

Automatic Lens distortion estimation for an Active Camera

This paper proposes a new algorithm for estimating lens distortion for a pantilt-zoom camera. No calibration pattern is needed: detection of a single feature point at different camera configurations allows the generation of a virtual calibration pattern which is composed of points that, in an undistorted image, are ensured to lie on straight lines. An iterative algorithm estimates lens distorti...

Non-iterative Camera Calibration Procedure Using A Virtual Camera

This article presents a method to improve camera calibration by separating determination of the nonlinear calibration parameters from that of the linear ones. We measure correspondences between the distorted image on a camera target and a flexible undistorted calibration pattern displayed on a TFT monitor. Using these correspondences the image of the camera may be projected onto the plane of th...

Planar Motion and Hand-eye Calibration using Inter-image Homographies from a Planar Scene

In this paper we consider a mobile platform performing partial hand-eye calibration and Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) using images of the floor along with the assumptions of planar motion and constant internal camera parameters. The method used is based on a direct parametrisation of the camera motion, combined with an iterative scheme for determining the motion parameters from i...
